News Briefs

ICOM

CAM congratulates Alissandra Cummins on her election as Chairperson of the Advisory Committee of ICOM. It was a quick election testifying to the high regard in which Alissandra is held by her international colleagues. We wish her much success in the post and the assistance and support of all her CAM colleagues in creating an ICOM to meet the challenges of the next Millennium.

CAM was also able to hold a successful dinner during the ICOM meeting. Thirty individuals attended and it was a pleasure to see old friends and meet new ones.

Distance Learning Program

CAM is also delighted to congratulate four new graduates of the program, Michael Bermudez of Hollywood, California, Stella Rundle and Catharina Van Waarden of Supo-Ngwao Museum Centre, Francistown, Botswana and Voti Thebe, The National Gallery in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. CAM wishes them all much success in their future work and an exciting career in the museum world.

Consulting News

David Devenish has completed his consultancy of six months in The Gambia and his report on the refurbished exhibition in The Museum of Slavery in Albreda/Juffure along with other aspects relating to museums in The Gambia. The consultancy was sponsored by the British Executive Service Overseas. CAM appreciates the opportunity to add these documents to our consultants files. This news also provides an opportunity to remind readers that, as a member, CAM will keep your resume on file for general referral when we receive requests for consultants. CAM does not select consultants but makes available relevant documentation to the requesting museums and organizations.
