BARCELONA. CATHEDRAL. NORTHEAST TRANSEPT TO NORTH TOWER

Bayne's drawing shows Barcelona Cathedral as seen from the northeast transept toward the north tower. The unicorn at the top of the buttress is similar to one in a photograph from Cathedrales de Espana, showing Bayne's observation of detail. A figure can be seen on the street between the Cathedral and the adjacent building to the right, giving a sense of scale. The number of the drawing is in the upper left and Bayne's monogram is in the lower left corners. The date and location are in the lower right.

BARCELONA. COURT OF LA CASA AUDEO (AUDIENCE CHAMBER)

This sketch of the courtyard of La Casa Audeo shows the stairway and glazed windows of the story above. It is quite similar to a photograph from Burlington Magazine, where the windows are also glazed. In a photograph from Ars Hisp. VII, the glass has been removed to leave an open colonnaded gallery. In the drawing, Bayne has added his monogram in the lower left, numbered the sketch in the upper left, and identified the location and date in the lower right corners.
