ARDENNES ABBEY

An incomplete sketch of the façade (west?) of Ardennes Abbey, the left side is more finished than the right. Vertical lines show Bayne’s method of work with a straight edge. The rose window above the door is the most complete part of the sketch, although part of the portal door and left windows are more finished than the outlines of the right side. There is no monogram, nor is the drawing numbered. In the lower right, however, Bayne has identified the location and date and added a note: "A most miserable reminicence of a glorious bit."

AUDRIEU

This ink sketch of a cross-plan church from an angle shows a tall tower at the crossing and what appear to be birds flying near it. Marks indicate the clouds and sky. The identification and date are in the lower right corner. There is no monogram nor number on the drawing.

BEAUVAIS. S. ETIENNE. WEST FRONT

There is no number on this drawing. It depicts the corner of the west front of S. Etienne with a corner turret of the buttress in centre; there is a door to the left. The sky is blue, and an orange-tan wash has been applied to the building. Bayne’s monogram is in the lower right, and the identification of the city and church, as well as the date, "Sep. 5/64," are in the lower left corner.

EVERAUX[?]. SHRINE OF S. TAURIN

The identification of this drawing is difficult to make out. The subject is a shrine, that of S. Taurin [?], covered in a gold wash against olive green walls and on a brown table. The shrine has red and green accents representing precious or semi-precious stones. Bayne’s monogram is in the lower right, while the identification and date, "Sept. 12/64," are in the lower left. The drawing is not numbered.
